Green ring (2). Creixell-Roda de Berà
Castle, churches, maquia and geology.
Short route along unused forest paths which historically communicate these two towns. These paths are bordered with stone edges, among plantations of carob trees and olive trees.
Description
Perfect for BTTS. If you are an experienced rider, we recommend you to continue until you get to the previous route, which comes from Torredembarra.
We leave Creixell after visiting its majestic castle, Sant Jaume’s church and the tower of Ca la Miquelina, then we stop at the lookout, where we can see the Mediterranean sea. After this, we leave the town around the church and we head north-eastwards.
The route continues along a forest path in bad conditions where we will not find motor vehicles. Then, we ride between the Mediterranean maquia and fields of carob trees. Instead of following the path that turns on the left heading towards a residential area called La Coma and the hermit of Our Lady of Fatima, we ride straight ahead until we find an interesting geological outcrop which during the raining seasons forms a pond on its feet that holds different species of amphibians. A few metres further the path is paved, and it joins the route from Roda de Berà to the residential area. Here the traffic of vehicles can be busier.
We are still surrounded by fields of carob trees and olive trees. We cross a bridge over the AP-7 highway, and we get to the road which connects Roda de Berà to Bonastre, and which we follow in direction to Roda. After a few minutes, we head to Sant Bartomeu’s church along the first entrance.

Advice
ROUTE: easy and generally without pavement. Gentle slopes. Short stretch before the geological outcrop. Ideal for BTTS. If you are an experienced rider we recommend you continue until you get to the previous route, that comes from Torredembarra.
WATER: The only fountains to be found are in Creixell and Roda de Berà.
CAUTION: During the hottest days of summer you should have enough water and sun protection (sun cream, cap, sunglasses). There are no shadows, except in some short stretches that cross the forest. During the geological stop, you should not get close to the edges. Avoid getting into the farmlands and do not step the worked areas.
WEATHER: Avoid the sunniest hours of the day. There are no shadows!
TERRAIN: The slopes are gentle. If you use a BTT, the path is rocky and has bumps.
MATERIAL: Sunglasses, comfortable footwear, water. BTT. Bike spare parts because it is difficult to find specialized shops. In all the BTT routes we recommend wearing a helmet and gloves.
OTHER EQUIPMENT: Cal Cabaler, interpretation centre from Creixell. There are some information boards where you can listen to audio files. The only fountains are to be found in towns.
