Creixell’s Castle

It is an old fortification. The oldest parts of the castle date back to the end of the 11th century, although most of what we can see today was built after the 16th century. Until the 16th century, the lords of the castle were the priory of Casserres. At that time, they bought the manor of Creixell, Roda and Barà to the Congregation of Bethlehem from Barcelona.

Sant Jaume’s parish church

It was built in the 16th century and follows a Gothic style with Baroque and Renaissance elements. This church dates back to the 11th century. We must highlight the Modernist dome of is bell tower. This dome was designed by the architect Josep M. Jujol i Gibert. The church’s bell tower was built in 1771.

Mas Gibert

Renaissance – Gothic. It is located at 150 metres above sea level. In its ground floor we can see very beautiful Gothic arcades and at the top of a window we can read a sign stating that it dates back to the 17th century. The property takes up the highest part of Creixell and it shares a border with la Trunyella and la Pobla de Montornès.

Mas Mercader

It is a masia of Renaissance style, very much influenced by popular taste. This masia has undergone several enlargements, and its oldest parts are medieval. The chapel of Santa Teresa is within the boundaries of la Pobla de Montornès.

Hermit of Our Lady of Fatima

Located at the top of the Carrossa (67 metres above sea level), in the eastern side of the municipality. It shows outstanding views of the old town and its surroundings. It is a simple construction with small pieces of masonry and with blocks of stone in the corners.

Tower of Cal Jeroni

It is an old tower of defence and guard, contemporary of the tower of cal Xacó. It was built in the 14th century and it is 15 metres high. It is located in the town’s main square. The only visible part of the building is to be seen from the street. The upper part is especially important because of its crowning crenels with their pyramidal shape.

Tower of Can Xacó

The tower of Can Xacó or Cal Cabaler, located in Sant Jaume street, defended the western sector of the historical old town. It has a rectangular floor and we guess it must have been as tall as the one in Cal Jeroni, in spite of the fact that this tower does not have its crowning crenels anymore. It was built in the 14th century.

Tower of Ca la Miquelina

The Tower of Ca la Miquelina is located in front of Sant Jaume de Creixell’s church and it dominated the eastern side of the old town. It is attached to the house with the same name: Ca la Miquelina. This tower is 10 metres high and has a rectangular but utterly irregular flor.
